From the Editor:

Middle and high school students and their families will descend upon Fayette this Friday for the Annual Central Methodist University Music Festival.

While many locals find the extra activity downtown, around the campus, and on the highways to be aggravating, it is important us all to be good ambassadors for our town.

These young musicians are traveling here from across the state to perform with their school bands and choirs, and with ensembles. Some will perform solos. These students have worked on this music for weeks and months with the hope that their preparations were good enough for the judges to award high scores.

They come to Fayette not with the intention of taking your parking spot, or getting in front of you at your restaurant. They will, however, bring with them money to spend at our restaurants, gas stations, and grocery stores.

Give them some latitude if they park downtown, or drive slowly through town seeking their destinations. Let us leave them with good memories from a friendly Fayette. Lasting remembrances of the picturesque little town with the exceptional college conservatory.

Let us be our best, so they may be their best. Being nice actually the least we can do.
