Around 70 people attended a meet-and-greet event for Democratic candidates held at Tricky Fish Community Hall in Fayette on Friday. The Howard County Democrat Committee, along with the Howard County Democratic Women, hosted six Democratic candidates from around the state who are running for various offices in this fall’s elections.
Mary Jarboe, Chairwoman of the Howard County Democrat Committee, emceed the meeting.
Speakers included Joe Jefferies of Fayette, a candidate for Missouri’s House District 48 seat, which consists of all of Howard and Chariton counties, most of Cooper County, and a small slice of western Randolph County. He is unopposed in the August 6 primary.
Other Speakers included Democrats Mike McCaffree of Nevada and Jeanette Cass of Niangua, both of whom have filed for the US 4th District congressional seat. Elad Gross from St. Louis delivered a lively talk. He is an outspoken opponent of puppy mills and was accompanied by his dog, Liberty Bell. He is running for Missouri Attorney General and is unopposed in the primary. Richard Brown, from Kansas City, is running for Missouri Lt. Governor. He has served two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives and discussed issues facing our state and communities.
Adrian Plank closed out the program. He is the Missouri House Representative for District 47.
