The Central Methodist men made easy work of Culver-Stockton College Thursday night, recording a 103-82 Heart win inside Puckett Field House.

Central is ranked third in the Heart in both offense and defense, ahead of Culver, which ranks fifth in both categories.

The win improves Central’s record to 15-2 and 11-2 in the Heart of America, while Culver falls to 7-9 overall and 5-7 in conference action. In addition, the Eagles keep their perfect home record intact at 11-0.

Both teams fought a tight opening eight minutes, with Central holding a two-point lead, 19-17. That was until a jump shot by junior forward Charlie Bronakowski kickstarted a swift eight-point run over the next 50 seconds to put Central up by 10.

The Eagles couldn’t maintain the double-digit lead, allowing Culver to cut the lead by four points, 53-49, at halftime.

Central’s defense held Culver-Stockton scoreless for nearly the first five minutes of the second half. Meanwhile, the Eagle offense surged to a 14-point lead. The scoring disparity was too much for CSC to overcome as the Eagles cruised to their sixth-straight double-digit win.

Central shot nearly 50 percent from the floor and knocked down 12-of-29 shots from the 3-point line for 41.4 percent.

In addition, the Eagles converted 17 of 22 attempts from the charity stripe.

Central dominated the glass, outrebounding the Wildcats 45-30, which included 15 boards on the offensive end.

Six Eagles landed in double figures with two double-doubles, including all five players in the starting lineup.

TreVon Smith led all scorers with 23 points paired with 10 rebounds to secure a double-double. He also added four assists and two steals. Peter Turay joined Smith in the double-double club with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Everett Stubblefield matched Turay with 14 points.

Trey Sinegal and Isaiah Williams each recorded 13 points, while Isaiah May added 12 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.

The Eagles were set to host Mount Mercy University in an already-rescheduled game on Monday. An overnight ice storm forced the games to be pushed back to Tuesday after the Advertiser went to press. Central hits the road today (Wednesday) for a bout with Benedictine in Atchison, Kan. The Eagles return home Saturday for a 4 p.m. tipoff against Grand View.
