Central Methodist University and Fayette Main Street, Inc., are partnering to present Fair on the Square from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 30.
Nikole Walker, Coordinator of Student Life at CMU, said the event is part of an effort to encourage students to develop a more active relationship with the Fayette community. “I’m trying to get students to branch out,” she said. “I want to bring the community and CMU closer together.”
Fresh Ideas will serve dinner to students, and are inviting local restaurants to take part. The evening’s events will include a 35 foot inflatable obstacle course, skeeball, along with traditional yard games such as corn hole.
Local businesses are encouraged to sign up for free booth space to provide information about their services for students. Walker said so far only a handful have signed up. Participating businesses include Commercial Trust Company, State Farm Insurance, Community Auto Sales, Grey Willows Arts & Antiques, Dr. Quint Dental Office, Sheep Dog Creations Boutique, Fireside Bakes and Brews, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
There is no cost to reserve a booth, and the deadline is August 25. Reservations can me made by contacting Walker at nwalker@centralmethodist.edu. The event will be free and open to the public. Meals will be reserved for CMU students.
