Fayette Area Schools Reunion Aug. 5

Posted

The Fayette Area Schools Reunion will be held on Saturday, August 5, at the Fayette High School Commons. The celebration will feature a meal and program to celebrate alumni and recent scholarship recipients.

This year’s event hosts the classes of 1968, 1974, and 1983 to celebrate their 55th, 49th, and 40th reunions, respectively, though all Fayette alumni are welcome to attend regardless of when they graduated. Pat Hilgedick, Al Terrill, and Ed Young are the respective organizers for the classes listed above, and their contact information can be found on the Alumni Association’s Facebook page or on their website.

The Fayette High School Commons doors will open at 5 p.m. for alumni to gather and mingle before dinner. The Big Maple Catering of Glasgow will provide the meal. Reservations may be made by sending $25 to the Fayette Alumni Association, P.O. Box 184, Fayette, MO, 65248. Reservations are due by July 24. The meal will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a short program to conclude the evening. The program will celebrate both the alumni of the classes present, the oldest and youngest alumni in attendance, and the five 2023 Fayette High School graduates who received Alumni scholarships. The recipients were Keyara Gaines, Haden Kelly, Hannah Quint, Kenzie Felten, and Preslee Sunderland. Scholarships are awarded to children or grandchildren of Fayette High School alumni, and the Alumni Association encourages donations to the scholarship fund. Donations may be sent to the address listed above.

As in the past, this year’s reunion coincides with the Fayette Festival of the Arts and the Peacemakers Quilt Show. The Alumni Association will be available on the courthouse lawn earlier in the day for conversations and to update emails and addresses of past graduates.

For more information, visit the Fayette High School Students and Alumni Facebook page or the website alumni.fayette.missouri.org. Contact organizers by email at fhsalum@yahoo.com, or by calling Beverly Young Markland at (573) 239-0709.
