Fayette Main Street, Inc., on Friday presented a check in the amount of $1,500 to Mickey Foland, owner of the Peacock Beauty Shop on North Main Street.
The money was from the organizations Facade Improvement Grant program, which helps downtown business owner pay for beautification to their storefronts. The grant will pay up to 50% of the improvements up to a total payout of $2,000.
Foland recently painted the front of her business a vibrant purple and added a new sign. The total cost of the project was $3,000.
The Beauty shop originally opened in 1924. In 2019, Foland moved it from a now demolished building on the west side of the square to its current location on Main Street.
Right: Main Executive Director Mike Dimond, beautician Kay Harris, Foland, Main Street, Inc. President Deanna Cooper, and Main Street board member Bill O’Neal.
