The Fayette school district will move to Yellow level after a staff member at Daly Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19.

A letter to parents from District Superintendent Jill Wiseman and school nurse Kelly Beeler said the school is working with the county health department to engage in contact tracing. “any students or staff who have been identified as being at higher risk of exposure due to close contact have been notified. If you did not hear from the District, your student was not identified as a close contact to the positive case,” the letter stated.

Yellow level is instituted in the event of minimal to moderate spread of the coronavirus, according to the district’s plan. It includes traditional in-person classes with more intensive mitigation strategies and enhanced social distancing. In addition, further disinfecting procedures will be taken throughout the building.

“The District's priority is to ensure that school is and remains a safe place for student learning and we will continue to work with the Health Department to follow the protocol and procedures necessary to achieve this goal,” the letter said.

The district does not plan on moving to online classes unless attendance drops below 80%.
