Fayette High School senior Chloe Bier, the Fayette Rotary Club’s representative at the Missouri Rotary Leadership Academy (RYLA), reports that she was energized by her experience at the four-day academy on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg earlier this month.
The daughter of John Allphin and Stefanie Allphin, Chloe said attending RYLA was “truly one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had. From the inspiring speakers to the team challenges and late-night laughs with new friends, every moment pushed me to grow as a leader and a person.”
“I walked in not knowing what to expect and walked out with new confidence, lifelong memories, and a whole group of people I now call friends. I’m so thankful for the opportunity and will always carry what I learned with me.”
Missouri RYLA offers high school students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior years a unique opportunity to build leadership skills in the context of service leadership. The program focuses on Rotary International’s motto of “Service Above Self.” Each year, Rotary Clubs across the state select students who show strong leadership potential and a commitment to making a positive impact to attend.
The Fayette Club will be selecting a student to attend RYLA next summer and invites interested students to apply. Application forms will be available through the Fayette High School counselor’s office later this year. In the meantime, interested students may contact any Rotary member for more information.
