The New Franklin city council held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday evening, December 15.

Following the resignation of Councilman Leslie Lyon in Ward 2, Seth Hallowell was appointed to complete the remainder of this term until the next election in April. Hallowell had previously served as a Ward 1 alderman but resigned when he moved out of his ward. He became eligible to be on the city council again after establishing a one-year residency in Ward 2.

In other business, the Council agreed to accept an additional bid for city water meters. Although several bids had already been submitted, Core & Main asked to bid on the water project to replace all the meters in New Franklin. The Council agreed to accept the bid and will make a decision at a later date.

The first-place winners were Tom and Amanda Gunn at 200 West Market St. Second place went to Chuck and Rachel Hammers at 202 West Market St. Nick McCullouch at 210 North Missouri won third place.

The city council will next meet at 7 p.m. on January 9 at City Hall. Meetings are open and the public is invited.
