Harrisburg’s Lanes tops 1,500 career points

Posted

Harrisburg senior Tanner Lanes continued to pile up the accomplishments on Wednesday against the Kirksville Tigers during the Macon tournament.

Lanes, who sports a 15.6-points-per-game average this season, topped 1,500 points in his Bulldog career.

“Tanner is one of the hardest-working and most coachable kids I have ever been around,” said Harrisburg coach Kyle Fisher. “He gets there early and he stays late almost every day. To get to 1,500 points is a tremendous accomplishment.”

Lanes continues his athletic prowess this year for Harrisburg teams as he led the Harrisburg football team to an 8-3 record. The Bulldog basketball team currently stands at 13-4, after finishing third in the Macon tournament on Saturday with an 85-69 win over the Macon Raiders.

Over his career, Lanes has averaged 16.1 points per game, and this season, in addition to the 15.6 ppg, he is pulling down 4.6 rebounds per game, 4.1 assists per game, and 1.9 steals per game.

“Tanner has had an outstanding career for us, and it has been awesome to watch him evolve as a player,” said Fisher. “His freshman year, he was pretty much just a shooter. His sophomore year, he became a scorer. Last year, as a junior, he became a playmaker, and this year, he has become a leader. He does so much for us on both ends of the floor that don’t show up in the box score.”

The Bulldogs are currently ranked seventh in the state for class 2 schools.
