The first ever Harvest Festival will be held in the Fayette City Park on Saturday. The event is presented by the committee behind the annual Fourth of July Party in the Park.
The family-friendly evening kicks off at 4 p.m. with a fun run sponsored by Solo’s Dream Catcher. At 5 p.m. vendors will open shop at the upper shelter house. About 15 vendors, including Kona Ice, Scentsy, Pampered Chef, Sheepdog Creations, and Small Town Deserts, will be on hand.
The costume contest begins at 5 p.m. for six age groups including adults. The pumpkin roll will immediately follow. Contestants may bring their own pumpkins, or pay $5 to used a provided pumpkin. There will also be a pumpkin carving contest. Pumpkins should be carved in advance and be turned in for judging by 6 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m. Solo’s Dreamcatcher will present a costume contest just for pets.
There will be games and prizes from 7 to 9 p.m. for the Monster Mash. It will involve costumes, games and prizes, and music.
There will be bounce houses near the lower shelter house.
Organizers hope to make the Harvest Festival an annual event at the park. It helps raise funds for the July 4 Party in the Park while attracting area families to the park.
