The Higbee boys’ track team was able to advance two field athletes to this weekend’s state meet after junior Anthony White launched the javelin 37.82 meters to finish second in the sectional meet behind the first-place finisher, Jamestown’s James Scheperle at 43.04.
The other qualifier for the Tigers was Jordan Fuemmeler. The sophomore finished fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.74 meters. In a tightly matched group, the first-place finisher, Brayson Hubba finished first in the event with a jump of 1.89.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Tigers 4x200-meter relay team finished 3.3 seconds behind frontrunner Principia to end up third in the event. The team, consisting of sophomore Isabelle Welch, freshman Raegan Derboven, freshman Joey Westfall, and junior Hailey Derboven, covered the distance in 1:55.29.
