Brian FischerBrian Fischer, D.D.S., 36, of rural Howard County, will begin working the first part of May in the Slater dental office, at 300 Main St., as a General Dentist.

Fischer plans to work two or three days a week, and has asked Dr. Philip Wymore, D.D.S., to work one or two different days a week through a transition period for a couple of months into the summer. Fischer and his wife, Chris, live on their farm 10 miles south of Glasgow, along with their two children.

Fischer is 36 years old, grew up in northern Illinois and attended college at Eastern Illinois in Charleston. He attended dental school at University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated in 2004 with a DDS degree. He was employed in Columbia for five years as a general dentist and has been in Salisbury Family Dental Center for the past five years.

He enjoys doing all aspects of general dentistry, including restorative, prosthodontics, pedodontics, endodontics and oral surgery. Fischer is very focused on each and every patient and feels that without his patients’ trust it is impossible to have a thriving dental practice.

Fischer plans to work toward becoming totally electronic by putting all patient records on computer. He intends to accept most dental insurances that are available in the area, and is hoping to continue to have the opportunity to treat established patients as well as welcoming new patients into the practice. Fischer has asked the current staff to continue working as part of his practice.

Fischer is the Vice President of 4-H Council in Howard County as well as the county-wide Poultry Project Leader. He appreciates the 4-H program and what it offers the children. He and his wife, who has a degree in botany, enjoy farming and have a greenhouse, several gardens, and orchards where they are able to practice organic farming. They also raise chickens, sheep, dairy goats, and pigs. He and his family also enjoy riding horses and deer hunting.
