Fayette, Missouri, resident James Lanham, age 61, passed away at Aspire Senior Living Center in Moberly, Missouri, on October 20, 2023.

James Price Lanham, affectionately known as “Jim” or “Jimmy” to family and friends, was born in Fayette, Missouri, on January 28, 1962. He was a son to the late William F. and Helen L. (Brown) Lanham. James graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1981. James held several jobs throughout his career, including working several years for McMillan’s Café (Mac’s) and Penny Plate manufacturing in Glasgow. James was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was able. He was also a faithful and active member of First Christian Church of Fayette. James’ family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff at the University of Missouri Hospital for the wonderful care James received.

Survivors include his two siblings, Lisa L. Iglehart and Sam B. Lanham VanderPal; nephews, Kevin Michael McCleery, William Andrew “Andy” Sullins, and Benjamin Alan Sullins; great-nieces and nephews, Blake William Sullins, Taylor Raine Sullins, Elizabeth Nicole McCleery, and Austin Joseph McCleery; uncle, Ben Basye; and first cousins, George, Randy, and Chuck Basye. James is also survived by close friends Reuben Merideth and Evelyn White. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a cousin, Scott Basye, and an aunt, Joanne Basye.

A funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Lanham was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, with Rev. Kerry Kesey officiating. Visitation was held an hour before the service at the funeral home starting at 1 p.m. Burial followed services at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Fayette First Christian Church and may be sent to 302 N. Church Street, Fayette, MO 65248. Final Arrangements are under the direction of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service of Fayette. Online condolences may be shared at friemonthfreesefuneralservice.com.
