James William “Bill” Hendrix, age 85, of New Franklin, Missouri, passed away on June 15, 2023, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Missouri.

Bill was born in New Franklin on May 18, 1938, a son of Frank Alison Hendrix and Arlie Zelda (Quinley) Hendrix. He was a 1956 graduate of New Franklin High School and served in the United States Air Force from August 1959 to January 1963. During his service he was stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base and also with Air Police Security in several countries.

Bill married Alice May Simmons on May 29, 1969. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Boben Manufacturing in Boonville and 3M in Columbia. Bill’s favorite activities included boating on the Missouri River and at Truman Lake, going to Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tunica, Mississippi, fishing, rabbit, deer and pheasant hunting, and keeping up with NASCAR racing. During his younger years he played on the New Franklin High School basketball team and bowled.

Cherishing his memory include his wife, Alice; a brother, Lloyd Hendrix; two sisters, Fay Kempf and Kathryn Andrews; two brothers-in-law, Jerry and Dennis Simmons; two sisters-in-law, Delores Pearson and Joann Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Zelda Canole, Betty Elder, Janice Smith, and Carol Andrews; a brother, Jesse Hendrix; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Simmons.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Boonesboro Cemetery in Boonesboro, Missouri, with Pastor Ross Mutrux officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Boonesboro Christian Church.
