Library Lines - December 2022

Warm Winter Greetings from the Howard County Public Library!  We hope that you have a happy holiday season!  As we are nearing the end of the year, we reflect back on the changes and additions that we have made here and are happy that we have had success with them all!  Our summer reading programs for both the middle school and the younger children saw the highest attendance on record!  We plan to make those even bigger and better in 2023!  The newly added Toddler Time on Thursdays has been a hit as we have had several little ones join us each week for stories, crafts and playtime.  We added the Mother’s Reading Room this year which gives moms and babies a quiet place to relax and we also added our Children’s Craft and Activities Center to our newly remodeled downstairs. Both the children who come for Friday Story Time and the toddlers on Thursdays have enjoyed using this area.

As we begin to look forward to a new year, our goals are to continue to improve our existing programs, add to our selection of available books and to continue to offer all our other available services to our patrons.  “Readers”, our adult book club, will continue to meet on the first Thursday of each month.  Winter hours will be 5:30 to 6:30.  Toddler Time will be on Thursdays at 10:00 and Story Time for the older children will be on Fridays at 11:00. Even though summer seems a long way away right now, it will be here before we know it and we will offer our summer reading programs again.  Watch our website for information.

As we make the transition from 2022 to 2023, we hope you will find time to drop by the library for a visit and to see what we have to offer.  The weather is perfect for curling up with a good book. From all of us at the Howard County Library, warm wishes and Happy Reading!
