Youngsters and adults alike will have plenty of opportunities to celebrate Halloween in Fayette this year. With perfect fall weather predicted, Trick-or-treaters will be out in force on Monday, October 31, so make sure you turn on your porch light and stock up on candy.

Families should plan a stop a the Linn Memorial United Methodist Church Parsonage at 203 West Spring Street. The church is hosting  it’s first ever PumpkinFest from 5 until 6:30 p.m. The free event will feature games, candy, hotdogs, and selfie stations.

After trick-or-treating, those still hungry for Halloween fun can enter a costume contest at halftime of the Central Methodist University women’s basketball team’s season opener. The Lady Eagles will host a costume contest at halftime. Tipoff begins at 7 p.m. (See story on page 9 of this newspaper.)

Children won’t have to wait until Monday to put on those costumers. The fun begins on Saturday afternoon with the annual Halloween Parade presented by the Golden Study Club at 4 p.m. on October 29.

For more than 50 years the club has welcomed youngsters up to the ages of 12 to the Fayette courthouse square for costume contests. All participants receive Halloween candy. The event concludes with a parade around the courthouse.

Directly following the Halloween parade, Fayette Main Street will host its annual Trunk or Treat downtown. Davis and Main streets will be closed to traffic. The event has grown in recent years with dozens of trunks and hundreds of kids and adults. Setup begins at 4 p.m. with the event starting at 5 p.m.
