Martha Jane (Marti) Becker-Dimond passed away on January 16, 2024.

Marti was born at home in Bolckow, Missouri on June 23, 1932.

Marti married Robert (Bob) Becker, Jr. on March 15, 1952, and they had 2 children, Donald (Donna Marsh) Becker, and Carolyn Becker Gregg.

Marti graduated from East St. Louis Senior High in January 1950 and went to work at Union Electric as a secretary.  She met Bob Becker at Union Electric and they were married a year later.  Marti left there to raise Don and then Carolyn.  She went to night school at Washington University in St. Louis for several years before enrolling at St. Louis Community College full time and earning her Associate degree.  She then went on to get her Bachelor in Sociology at UMSL.

After Bob Becker passed away in 1979, she went to work full time as a personal banker for UMB.  There she met David (Larry) Dimond.  They married in December 1981. Marti then moved to Fayette and went to work for the Red Cross in Columbia.

Marti and Larry then owned and operated “Laurence’s Limited” men’s clothing store on the Fayette square for 10 years. When they closed the store, Marti went on to work as an assistant clerk at the Howard County Courthouse.

Marti always had a passion for service, whether it was at church as a young mother, in the civils rights movement, or helping in political campaigns.  She loved family time and entertaining, and organized family reunions for many years as well.

Marti is survived by her brothers, William Ray (Mary, the late Judy) Leininger, Daniel Neil (Donna) Leininger and brother-in-law Noble Stallons; son, Donald (Donna Marsh) Becker of Veazie, Maine, Carolyn Becker Gregg of Saint Charles MO, and step-son Michael (Janell) Dimond of Fayette MO; grandchildren Amy (Steve) Burrows of Kansas City MO, Robert Dunham of Gold Hill Oregon, Jessica (Chris) Capati of Aurora IL, Sarah Dimond and Abigail Dimond of Las Vegas NV, Mikela Dimond of Fayette MO, Kelly (Logan) Huff of Mountain Home Arkansas, and Jacob Moor of Columbia MO; and great grandchildren Collin Burrows of Kansas City MO, Aaron and Noah Capati of Aurora IL, and Graham Huff of Mountain Home Arkansas.

Marti was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Dimond, her parents Louis Lee and Ollie Leininger, and her siblings and spouses Louis Lee (Maggie) Leininger, Frances (Charles) Tipton, and Melba Stallons.

Visitation is Friday, January 26, 2024, at Carr Yager Funeral Home in Fayette MO at 10am.  The service will follow at 11am at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Carr – Yager Funeral Home in Fayette.
