The Fayette branch of the United States Post Office has a new Postmaster. Jordan Benny succeeded Judy Kirschman at the end of March.
Mr. Benny has been with the USPS for 15 years. He began as a clerk for around three years and then became a carrier for the next five years. He was promoted to Postmaster in December 2019 in Lincoln, Missouri.
Mr. Benny accepted the position here because he wanted to move closer to home. He grew up in Otterville, east of Sedalia in southwest Cooper County.
In addition to the Fayette branch, Mr. Benny oversees branches in Glasgow, Armstrong, Harrisburg, and Rocheport. Those remotely managed offices offer part-time window service hours staffed by a USPS employee at the direction of a postmaster, and reports to an Administrative Post Office.
Like most people in rural areas, Mr. Benny considers mail an essential service, despite the nationwide decline in recent years.
