Fayette’s season opener was ruined Monday night during New Franklin’s home opener when the Bulldogs jumped out to a first-inning 8-0 lead and held on to claim a 12-1 victory.
Senior Caleb Hull got the victory for New Franklin while sophomores Jacob Marshall, Tanner Bishop, and junior Keaton Eads tallied two hits apiece.
Fayette recorded hits by Junior Haden Kelly, and sophomore Jayden Shiflett.
Fayette will travel to Centralia on Friday, while New Franklin was to travel to Moberly.
