The New Franklin Board of Education voted unanimously to revise its covid policy at its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 15.
The new policy is virtually the same as what had already been in place, and reflects similar policy changes across the state of Missouri and by MSHAA. The main difference is that the district will no longer trace close contacts. Positive cases will still have 10 days to be out, but close contacts from school will not have to quarantine. School nurse Stacy Wells told the board, “The health department now is officially… not really contact tracing themselves, at the moment.” Face coverings will still be required on school buses, as they are federally mandated.
Also at the December 15 meeting, the board reviewed the 2020-21 audit and approved it, and approved the calendar for the 2022-23 school year, which is similar to the current school year calendar with a few professional development day adjustments.
The Board of Education meets regularly on the third Wednesday of every month. Meetings are open and the public is invited.
