George Grindstaff, 88, passed away November 30, 2021, at the Riverdell Care Center in Boonville, Missouri.

Norman George Grindstaff was born March 23, 1933, in Harrisburg, Missouri, a son to the late Grover and Mary Elizabeth (Howard) Grindstaff. He attended elementary school in Harrisburg. On May 21, 1951, George married the love of his life, Jennie Lurline Isle. Together they enjoyed over 45 years of marriage. Lurline preceded him in death on December 18, 1996. George enlisted with the U.S. Army and served his country valiantly in the Korean War. While in Korea, he served in the infantry and when he was stationed in Germany, he became a cook. He was honorably discharged on January 9, 1956. George was a jack of all trades. He primarily worked as a carpenter in the construction industry, but he also worked as a mechanic, plumber, and electrician. He enjoyed woodworking and building furniture. George also had a passion for cooking, making every Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner from scratch for his family to enjoy.

Survivors include his three sons, Norman (Kathy) Grindstaff of Franklin, Missouri, Bill (Tracy) Grindstaff of Franklin, Missouri, and Jeff (Kathleen) Grindstaff of Vienna, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Mary) Grindstaff of West Plains, Missouri. In addition to his wife and parents, George was preceded in death by two daughters, Jennie Lee Wood and Karen Schelker, an infant son, Ronnie Dale, a grandson, Lucas Grindstaff, a great-granddaughter, Alexandria Wood and a step-daughter, Diane Pickett.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Boonesboro Cemetery in Franklin, Missouri, with Rev. Wayne Purvis officiating.
