Peggy Allen Gentry, aged 75, of Franklin, Missouri, passed away on her own terms at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia on August 18, 2023.

Peggy was born in Glasgow, Missouri, on April 16, 1948, a daughter of Robert and Gertie Brand Heying. She married Ronald Gentry on May 25, 1994, at the Friendship Foursquare Church in New Franklin. Peggy was employed with the University of Missouri for 34 years in the Pathology Laboratory and also helped administer the Gift of Body Program.

Peggy was a very direct person, always making sure that you knew her opinion on the subject at hand. She also had an opposite side, including love for her husband, Ron, and caring for their home, her talents as a seamstress, and her love of animals. Peggy was a member of the last graduating class of Armstrong High School where she was a good student and won several awards for her typing skills.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ronald Dean Gentry; grandchildren, Ryan Holem, Alex Holem, and Kayle Rice; and family friends, Larry and Lan Tu Holem.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Heying, Jr.

Peggy requested that no services be held and that memorial contributions in her honor be made to Columbia Second Chance Animal Shelter.

Condolences may be shared at www.marklandyager.com.

Markland-Yager Funeral Home of New Franklin is honored to serve the Gentry family.
