The Fayette JV boys went into halftime with 18 points and a two-point lead in Bunceton on Thursday.

The Falcons scored 20 points in the fourth quarter and went on to a 46-34 win over Bunceton/Prairie Home.

“I thought we did a lot better job on defense (after halftime) and we did well knocking down some shots in the second half,” coach Jon Bishop said.

Chase Allen had 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Falcons. Ben Wells scored 13.

Fayette trailed 9-6 after one quarter, but came back to take an 18-16 lead at the halftime break.

“We started slow tonight,” Bishop said. “We struggled early to close out Bunceton/Prairie Home in the paint. We got back to playing better defense and settling down on offense in the second quarter.”

Haden Kelly had seven points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots. Malakai Graves had six points and two assists, and Logan Wiswall had five rebounds. Alex McBain had two points, four rebounds, and two steals. Mason Sappington had two points and three rebounds and Aaron Barber grabbed three rebounds.

The Fayette junior varsity improved to 3-3 for the season.

“I was very proud seeing these guys compete and play hard the entire game,” Bishop said. “We need to do a better job of being patient on offense.

“Needless to say the future of Falcon basketball is very bright and I’m excited to see what each of these guys do as they improve over the next several years.”
