To the Editor:
It is an awesome feeling of gratitude to the Fayette area firemen that I send a heartfelt thank you for their decision to include Mr. Don Hilgedick and myself into the induction to the Missouri Firefighters Memorial in Kingdom City, Mo. To be recognized along with the Great Firefighters honored there makes one very humble. The Fayette firemen have always been very selective of the quality of individuals voted to serve with them. The countless hours of training and serving the entire community and Howard County is unbelievable. A person can get an ego-type feeling when it is time to retire–will the young guys do this or remember to do that? That feeling quickly disappeared once I looked around and saw the quality of the group that I retired from–I would put the Fayette Area Firemen up against any department! In my 50-plus years of service I was honored to serve with the best.
This is a very small way for me to, once again, say a BIG THANK YOU to ALL THE FIREFIGHTERS and First Responders on the good ole FFD!!!
George Frink
