A car wreck sent three people to the hospital Thursday morning. The accident occurred on Highway 240, approximately one mile north of the junction of Highways 240 and 40 while traffic was stopped for a northbound school bus.
According the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Clare W. Franz-Jones, 40, of Fayette, was southbound on Highway 240 when she stopped her 2006 Acura to allow for a school bus picking up children at approximately 7:15 a.m. Harry Gerken, 72, of Fayette, failed to stop his 2009 Ford Escape and rear-ended Franz-Jones’s car.
Franz-Jones and a passenger, Eileen K. Stacy, 28, of Fayette, both sustained minor injuries and were taken to University Hospital in Columbia. Gerken, who’s injuries were listed as minor, was also taken to University Hospital.
All three were wearing seatbelts, according to the highway patrol.
