The annual Trunk or Treat returns to the downtown Fayette square on Sunday afternoon. The event, hosted by Downtown Fayette, traditionally draws hundreds to Main Street, where costumed youngsters and their families enjoy two city blocks filled with games, activities, and, of course, lots of treats.
For those who have already signed up to host a truck, setup will be from 2 to 3 p.m. The event kicks off at 3 p.m. and runs until 5 p.m.
A QR code to register to host a trunk appears in an advertisement on Page 4.
The Trunk or Treat will take place on Main Street, between Elm and Morrison Streets, with cross streets blocked off for safety. A block of Morrison Street on the south side of the square will also be closed off. Food vendors will be stationed there. As of last week, one food vendor had been confirmed. Downtown Fayette hopes to have at least three.
Trunk or Treat has grown every year and officially kicks off the spooky season in Fayette. This year, Halloween falls on a Friday, which means trick-or-treaters are likely to be out later, as there is no school the next day. Linn Memorial United Methodist Church will again host PumpkinFest at the church’s parsonage on Spring Street to kick off a fun night of trick or treating. An article with more Halloween details will appear in next week’s newspaper.
