Two people involved in a three-car crash in Old Franklin on June 25 have died from their injuries. Mark S. Thomann, 72, Boonville, and Carolyn K. Volden, 73, New Franklin, were both in a 2010 Ford Fusion that was hit head-on.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mr. Thomann was the driver of the Ford. Volden, along with Virginia, M. Thomann, 73, were passengers. They were northbound on US 40 when a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva, driven by 19-year-old Heaven-Lee Hundley, of New Franklin, was hit from behind by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Jedia D. Shields, 45, Higbee. The Captiva was forced into the path of the Fusion.

Mrs. Volden was life-flighted to University Hospital. She was pronounced dead on the night of July 3 at the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Thomann were both taken to University Hospital by ambulance. Mr. Thomann died on the afternoon of July 2.

Hundley and Shields were also taken to University Hospital by ambulance, both listed with serious injuries.

An obituary for Mrs. Volden appears on Page 2 of this newspaper.
