The Central Methodist women’s soccer team held steady at No. 8 in the lastest edition of the NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 poll, as announced by the national office last week.
Other Heart schools featured in the Top 25 include No. 18 Missouri Valley and No. 22 Benedictine.
The Eagles currently boast an 8-1 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark in conference play, with their only loss coming to No. 7 Marian (Ind.) on Sept. 8 in St. Louis.
Senior midfielder Andrea Villar currently leads the nation in goals scored (17), and points (37). The Madrid, Spain native has more than doubled her career best in goals in just nine games this season.
Sophomore midfielder Sandra Jakobsen is also making noise in the national rankings, as she is second in the NAIA with 12 assists.
As a team, the Eagles are No. 1 nationally in shots (209), points (116), No. 3 in assists (34), and No. 4 in goals scored (41).
