A dream 70 years in the making

Posted

Seven decades after she left Central Methodist College (now University), Nadine (Turner) Mordt finally fulfilled her dream of walking across the graduation stage and receiving her diploma. She was supposed to graduate in the spring of 1954, but her husband, Robert Mordt, was accepted to a seminary in New Jersey, and they had to move before her graduation. She has always regretted that she never got to walk across the stage to receive that diploma.

Now, at 92 years of age, Mrs. Mordt was awarded the honor of accepting her diploma from CMU President Roger Drake at the University’s commencement exercises on Saturday.
