The Howard County Ambulance District will hold two question-and-answer sessions and facility tours. The first will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 14. The second begins at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 23.
The tours will last for the first 30 minutes, followed by half-hour question and answer sessions.
The district is asking Howard County voters to approve a new 1-percent sales tax and will roll back half of its current property tax. If approved, sales taxes charged within the Fayette CID would exceed 10 percent, which is significantly higher than the state average combined rate of 8.44%. Fayette’s CID mostly surrounds the downtown area but dips south to include C&R Market and Dollar General.
The highest tax rates in Missouri exist within community improvement districts in suburbs around St. Louis, with the steepest at 12.238% in portions of St. Ann.
