Several area runners turned in top 25 times at the Father Tolton Catholic Cross Country Invitational on Friday in Columbia. New Franklin junior Quincy Dorson placed 11th overall in the boys’ 5k, followed by Fayette freshman Liam Betts, and Harrisburg senior Josey Whitaker placed 15th in the girls’ division, followed by sophomore Jacqueline Stidham in 17th.
The Glasgow girls placed 12th overall with 295 team points, while the Harrisburg boys finished 25th with 692 points. Other area programs did not record official team scores, with fewer than five runners competing.
Quincy Dorson paced the local contingent, crossing the line in 17:21.97 to place 11th overall. Teammate and younger brother Ryder Dorson shrugged off a nagging ankle injury to place 37th overall with a time of 18:32.15.
Fayette freshman Liam Betts broke through with an 18th-place time of 17:46.88. Freshman Devin Estrada and junior Jon Watkins followed for Fayette in 20:34.78 (112th) and 21:16.53 (141st), respectively, for the Falcons.
Glasgow senior Joshua Sayler led the team with a time of 18:42.51 for 41st place. Sophomore August Schmidt placed 151st (21:39.93), freshman Rafe Locke placed 159th (21:54.33), and junior Dillon Johnson placed 203rd (24:53.65).
For Harrisburg, freshman Russell Briggs posted a time of 22:17.04 for 166th, with freshman Hayden Hunziker in 179th (22:52.12), freshman Brayden Lewis in 192nd (23:41.02), junior Ramsey Miller in 194th (23:57.12), and senior Cooper Peters in 211th (26:15.66).
The Bulldogs' top-five average time was 23:48.59 with a spread of 3:58.62.
The Glasgow girls fielded a seven-runner squad, with freshman Kynleigh Stricker leading the way with a 54th-place finish in 23:23.78. She was joined by Maylen Parks (junior, 55th, 23:29.83), Paisley Locke (freshman, 61st, 23:47.74), Kamryn Kottman (sophomore, 83rd, 24:41.96), Lydia Friedrich (sophomore, 122nd, 27:37.69), Aly Prentzler (senior, 130th, 27:56.01), and Addisyn Monnig (senior, 157th, 31:00.65).
The Lady Jackets posted a top-five average of 24:36.20 with a spread of 4:13.91.
Senior Josey Whitaker anchored the Harrisburg girls with a 15th-place finish in 21:37.82. Sophomore Jacqueline Stidham placed 17th in 21:41.21. Senior Marie Bergfield (24:27.97, 77th) and sophomore Erandi Reinaga-Mendez (27:33.50, 119th) rounded out the Lady Bulldogs.
Two Higbee freshmen scored times for the Lady Tigers. Emma Deschu placed 124th overall with a time of 27:44.81, and Gracie Mcalpin added a 161st-place time of 31:57.54.
