THE CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLE ATHLETIC AUCTION raised more than $130,000. The total marks a new record for the annual event that raises funds for CMU’s athletic programs.
Popular in the silent auction this year was a Kansas City Chiefs quilt made by two generations of Central alumni, Stacey Menees and Julie Jacobs Menees. The top price paid in the live auction was $12,700 for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail tour hosted by CMU President Roger Drake and his wife, Judy. A custom CMU Monopoly board made by Don Clear and Mary Lay went for $6,200.
More than 250 attended the event, held Friday night in Puckett Field House. More than 100 bid for items virtually over the internet. Alumnus Dick Hutchison ('83) served as auctioneer.
