A public candidate forum for the offices of Mayor and City Marshal of Fayette will be held next Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Keller Building.
Sponsored by the GFWC Golden Study Club, the event will be moderated by Justin Addison, editor and publisher of the Fayette Advertiser.
The April 7 municipal election will determine the outcomes of these races. Incumbent Mayor Greg Stidham and write-in challenger Brian Cummiskey will participate in the one segment, addressing questions from the panel. Acting City Marshal Bo Wells and challenger Brandon Abbott will respond to inquiries.
Wells was appointed City Marshal in August following the retirement of the previous Police Chief, David Ford. Abbott has served as an officer with the Fayette Police Department for two years.
The forum will feature initial questions prepared in advance by a designated committee, with additional questions drawn from submissions by audience members. To maintain order and professionalism, no direct exchanges or follow-up questions from the audience will be permitted.
Candidates running for uncontested seats are also invited to make brief remarks. Light refreshments will be served, and following the formal program, attendees will have the opportunity to speak informally with the candidates.
The public is encouraged to attend this important community event to learn more about the candidates’ views and priorities leading up to the election.
