Charles “Leon” Dobson of Glasgow, Missouri passed away peacefully at his ponderosa surrounded by his family on October 9, 2024, at the age of 78 after a six-year battle with cancer.

Leon was born on December 11, 1945, to Charles Ray Dobson and Mary Frances Golden Dobson in Boonville, Missouri.  He graduated from Glasgow High School in the class of 1963. On August 13, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Karen Kay McGary in Boonville, Missouri.  Together they raised three children. 

He is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; his three children, Kevin (Sherri) Dobson of Fayette, Kyle (Lora) Dobson of New Franklin and Kristin (Greg) Felten of Franklin. Leon had seven grandchildren, Kayla (John) Morris, Kaitlin (Austin) Dobson, Chloe (Trevor) Dobson, Kole (Lyndsey) Felten, Katie (Ben) Dobson, Riley (Mollie) Felten and Sawyer Felten; two step-grandchildren, Paden (Karissa) Boulden and Ethan (Annie) Boulden; four great grandchildren, Mia and Audrey Dobson, Presley Morris, Blair Felten; seven step-great grandchildren, Ava and Claire Morris, Rial, Rhett, Easton, Asa and Braxton Boulden. Leon has two sisters, Linda Hill and Mary Ann Wolpers both of New Franklin and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna Colvin; three brothers in law, Wayne Hill, Erich Wolpers and Joe Colvin and one daughter in law, Kimberly Schnell Dobson.

He worked numerous jobs starting with Ford Motor Company, Monnig Iron Works and New Franklin Locker.  His true passion began when he started his own construction company, Dobson Construction.  For fifty plus years he built over 100 quality custom homes.  He took great pride in his work and pleasing his customers.  Leon cherished the lifetime friendships that were made along the way.

Leon was an avid hunter and fisherman and instilled his passion into the lives of his children and grandchildren.  He was a member of the Boonesboro Christian Church. Above all, Leon treasured his family most!  His grandkids were the light of his life and he enjoyed sharing his passions with them.  Leon will be missed by all who loved him.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.  Funeral services honoring Leon’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Clarks Chapel Cemetery in Franklin, Missouri.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cherry Grove 4-H Club or American Sportsmans Forever.
