The City of Fayette has hired a new part-time building inspector. She is Angie Malone, who formerly served as both the city’s director of public works and building inspector after a career as a Fayette police officer.
The city contracted the position with REH Solutions, a limited liability corporation owned by Malone. Her primary tasks will be rental inspections and code enforcement.
Mayor Greg Stidham has made hiring a building inspector a top priority for the city. He and the council briefly discussed hiring Malone during a special budget meeting on July 1. The position was quietly advertised on the city’s website, and Malone was hired during the closed portion of the council’s July 9 meeting.
According to the fiscal year 2024-2025 budget passed on July 1, $30,000 was earmarked for a building inspector’s salary. Combined with other related expenses, the total budget for the building inspector’s position is $48,155.
