City seeking bids for pool bathroom renovations

The City of Fayette is seeking a qualified historic architecture professional for renovations to two bathrooms and the pump room at the Fayette City Pool.

The city received a 50/50 matching grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund through the federal National Park Service, run through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Division of State Parks. The amount received is $40,730, half of the $81,460 total that includes matching pledges.

The grant is to repair, upgrade, and convert the back two bathrooms to single-use ADA-compliant bathrooms. The bathrooms and pump room walls will also receive tuckpointing repairs, as needed. Window sills will be repaired, and new windows will be installed. The electrical system will be rewired in the back. The pump room will receive a new ventilation fan. In addition, there will be new exterior doors on all three rooms.

The pool is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as Howard County’s World War I Memorial. The pool was designated a Local Landmark by the Fayette Historic Preservation Commission and by ordinance dated Dec. 6, 2011, by the Fayette Board of Aldermen.

Sealed bids must be received by the city administrator at City Hall no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, May 8.

For a complete copy of the RFQ specifications and project timelines, contact City Administrator Deanna Cooper at 117 South Main Street, Fayette, MO 65248, by email at administrator@cityoffayettem7o.org, or by phone at 660-248-5246.

See advertisement on Page 11 of this newspaper.

The grant stipulates that all work must be completed by October 31, 2027.
