Clark Middle School in Fayette and New Franklin Elementary School were recognized among 217 schools across the state with the Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Supports (MO SW-PBS) Award of Excellence.
“Earning this award takes a great deal of effort and dedication, but the results you see in student outcomes are well worth the efforts,” said Gordon Way, MO SW-PBS state director.
Schoolwide Positive Behavior Supports is an evidence-based, multi-tiered system of behavioral supports based on prevention and early intervention and has been shown to produce positive behavioral outcomes for students. Missouri schools that earn the Award of Excellence have demonstrated increased pro-social/expectation-following behavior, improved attendance, fewer office discipline referrals, and fewer days missed due to out-of-school suspensions.
“We are so proud of our Clark Middle School students and staff,” said Fayette Superintendent Brent Doolin. “They put in the time and collaborated to implement the PBIS system, and this recognition is well deserved.”
New Franklin Superintendent Benji Dorson said the district is incredibly proud of our elementary staff and students for earning recognition as a PBIS Tier 1 Award school. "This honor reflects the dedication of our teachers, staff, students, and families in creating a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment where every child can succeed. Receiving Tier 1 recognition demonstrates that New Franklin Elementary has established strong school-wide systems that promote respect, responsibility, kindness, and a culture of learning. This achievement belongs to our entire school community. We are grateful to our outstanding staff for their dedication, to our students for embracing our expectations every day, and to our families for partnering with us to support student success. We congratulate everyone involved on this tremendous accomplishment and look forward to continuing to build on this success for years to come."
