Three area high schools are holding commencement ceremonies on Sunday. Fayette, Glasgow, and Harrisburg will each bid farewell to their senior classes at 2 p.m.

Former Fayette teacher Howie Ball will deliver this year’s commencement address to the FHS senior class. He taught sixth-grade world history, seventh-grade world geography, and eighth-grade American History at Clark Middle School, and coached the CMS girls’ basketball team and the CMS boys and girls track and field teams.

Ball currently teaches American History at Boonville High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social science education from Northwest Missouri State University and a master’s degree in Positive Leadership from the University of Missouri. His wife, Jess, is a licensed practicing counselor in the Columbia public school district, providing mental health support to elementary students. They have several pets including two horses, Jasper and Henry, that they ride as often as possible.

Glasgow will hold its graduation in the high school gym, where 23 graduates receive their diplomas. The commencement speaker is always a member of the senior class.  This year’s speaker will be the 2024 Class President, Olivia Haskamp.

Harrisburg will graduate 49 seniors. Commencement will be held in the high school gym. The speaker will be Kaitlyn Blakemore.
