The Fayette City Pool is expected to open on time for the season on Memorial Day weekend, with the first day of operation on Saturday, May 23.
Regular pool hours will be from noon until 8 p.m. daily. Family pool passes cost $80 for the season and may be purchased at the pool or at City Hall.
The splash park adjacent to the pool at the Fayette City Park is also expected to open for the season. City crews have been working on it with the hopes of having it functioning properly by Memorial Day weekend. The family-friendly splash park is free to use and operates during daylight hours.
The pool is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as Howard County’s World War I Memorial. It was designated a local landmark by the Fayette Historic Preservation Commission and by ordinance in 2011 by the Fayette Board of Aldermen. The city was recently awarded a 50/50 matching grant for $81,460 to repair, upgrade, and convert the back two bathrooms to single-use ADA-compliant bathrooms. The bathrooms and pump room walls will also receive tuckpointing repairs, as needed. Window sills will be repaired, and new windows will be installed. The electrical system will be rewired in the back. The pump room will receive a new ventilation fan. In addition, there will be new exterior doors on all three rooms.
