The City of Fayette on Monday swore in its newest police officer. Mike Cabra, from the Higbee area, took the oath to begin work from City Clerk Mati Rogers Monday afternoon.
Cabra was hired on February 9 while in the training academy.
City Marshal Bo Wells said Cabra will undergo 56 shifts of day-shift training, which lasts about two months.
The Fayette Police Department is now only one officer short. Cabra is the sixth officer out of a seven-officer department, in addition to Wells, who was elected.
