Fayette High School students have been getting into the school spirit for Courtwarming Week. This year’s theme is “Falcon Pride Early 2000s Style,” with dress-up days throwing back to the early years of the millennium.

Tuesday’s theme was 2000s Hits Day (Favorite Early 2000s Singer). Students are decked out in pink today (Wednesday) for Mean Girls Day, and will dress in early 2000s fashion for Throwback Thursday. Students will dig through closets to find their parents’ old spirit gear for Falcon Pride Early 2000’s Style day Friday. The hallways will be gilded in black and gold as students wear their favorite Falcon gear.

Other events scheduled this week include a high school pep rally on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The band and cheerleaders will perform before girls and boys basketball players and members of the cheer squad are introduced along with the Courtwarming court. Other activities include gift card winner announcements and school games.

Fayette is also reviving an old Homecoming custom this year with a Kiss the Pig contest. Each of the senior King and Queen candidates has a bucket placed at either C&R Market or DJ’s convenience store. The boy and girl with the most money will have the honor of kissing a pig during Friday’s pep rally.

Courtwarming culminates with the crowning of a new King and Queen at the end of the boys’ basketball game on Friday night. This year’s senior Queen candidates are Madison Ragain, Browyn Eubanks, and Leah Thies. Senior King candidates are Jaron Cross, Charles Alexander, and Payton Oeth.

Attendants include juniors Emma Hilgedick and Parker LaValley, sophomores Rylan Roberts and Morgen Campbell, and freshmen Tessa Gose and Kielin Pulliam.

Crown-bearers for the 2025 coronation are Amara Patty and Murphy Cook.

The varsity girls tipoff against Central State 8 opponent Linn at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow. The annual Courtwarming dance will close out the festivities after the basketball games.
