The Fayette Juneteenth Celebration Committee on July 4 presented local organization, the Community Celebration Committee (CCC), with a donation for $881, representing the benevolence offering collected during the Juneteenth Community Worship Service held June 21.

Giving back to the community is one of the Juneteenth Celebration Committee’s core values. This annual donation reflects the committee’s appreciation for the community’s continued support and its commitment to reinvesting back into the community.

This year’s recipient benefits the Community Celebration Committee’s Annual Backpack and School Supply Giveaway, which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, at Schnell Hall.

For many years, the Community Celebration Committee has provided this free event for preschool through high school students. Students must be present with a parent or legal guardian to receive a backpack filled with school supplies. In addition, attendees will have opportunities to win door prizes and other giveaways.

To make the afternoon even more enjoyable, the committee will also provide free hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and beverages for everyone in attendance.
