Regular-dose and high-dose flu vaccines for the 2026 season are now available at the Howard County Health Department, 600 W. Davis Street in Fayette.
The regular-dose vaccine costs $30. The high-dose vaccine, for adults 65 and older, costs $80. The department can bill Medicare and Medicaid for eligible patients.
“Getting vaccinated each year is an important step in protecting yourself, your family, and our community from influenza and its complications,” said health department administrator Rajitha Voleti.
An upcoming flu clinic will be held on the courthouse lawn next Wednesday, September 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Flu vaccinations will be available to both Howard County employees and the general public.
The department also plans school-based flu clinics but is waiting for those vaccines to arrive. Once they do, Voleti said they will work with local schools and announce clinic dates and any student vaccination requirements. Parents should watch for notices from their child’s school and the health department.
