Howard County Clerk Shelly Howell announced she will seek a third term. She will be on the Republican ticket for the Primary Election in August and the General Election in November.
Howell won a three-way race in November 2018 and was re-elected in 2022. She was unopposed on the GOP ticket in both Primary elections.
“My terms have been eventful, and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of it,” Howell said. “I’ve run several elections now flawlessly. I have also had clean audits every time we have been audited.”
Howell said that if she is re-elected, her goals for the next term are to continue ensuring fair elections and clean audits for the county so taxpayers know their money is being spent appropriately.
“I want to give a huge thank you to my staff and all the hard work they do for me and with me. To all of my election judges, thank you. If it weren’t for my staff and the election judges, my job would be so much harder than it is. I owe all of you a debt of gratitude.
“I would like to take this opportunity to also thank the citizens of Howard County for electing me in this rewarding position in 2018 and 2022, and I would ask for their support and vote in 2026 so I can continue to serve the county we all call home.”
