Leanna Lucille Kottman (nee Gebhardt) died on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026. She was born on Dec. 31, 1935, in Forest Green, MO, to Emil and Edna Gebhardt.

Leanna graduated from Salisbury High School in 1953. After graduation, she worked at Woodland Memorial Hospital in Moberly.

She married Kenneth Fred Kottman on April 7, 1956, and they were married for 63 years. They lived in the Forest Green and Roanoke areas, where they built their life together running a successful farm. They raised three sons: David Fred, Mark Alan, and Glenn William.

As a lifelong member of the Salem Lutheran Church, she was very involved as a Sunday School teacher, a school bus driver, and a founding member of the Ladies Evening Group. She was a long-time member of the Lively Workers Extension Club, and as a leader in the Steinmetz 4-H club, she taught sewing, baking, and cooking. She loved caring for her flowers and pets.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenny, her parents, her brother Norbert Gebhardt, her daughter-in-law Joan, and granddaughter Cynthia.

She is survived by sisters Marcie (Jim) Perry, Savannah, GA; and Mary (Joe) Appleyard, Lancaster, PA; and sister-in-law Linda Gebhardt, Forest Green, MO. Her sons: David (Sandra) Kottman, Armstrong, MO; Mark (Dawn) Kottman, Pine City, MN; and Glenn (Stephanie) Kottman, Roanoke, MO. Grandchildren Christopher (Olive) Kottman, Timothy (MacKenzie) Kottman, Michael (Kate) Kottman, Mattie Kottman, Kate Kottman, Benjamin Algiere, and Kassandra Algiere, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, at Salem Lutheran Church in Forest Green, with visitation at 10 a.m. and a funeral at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emil Gebhardt Scholarship Fund at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Blood Cancer United, or Salem Lutheran Cemetery in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 112 Market Street, Glasgow, MO 65254.
