The South Howard County Historical Society Museum in New Franklin has been given a beautiful 1/87th scale model of M-K-T railroad facilities and downtown New Franklin created by Boonville native Bob Jordan.
Mr. Jordan created the operating HO scale layout over a period of some 30 years. Franklin was once a major hub for Katy operations, and the model faithfully recreates the roundhouse and switching yard. It includes detailed tracks and structures with operating model trains on the lower level. Downtown New Franklin is reproduced on the upper level in similar detail. The display and museum are sure to delight rail fans and history buffs of all ages.
The SHCHS will welcome visitors to a grand opening of the exhibit on Saturday, August 22, from noon until 3 p.m. at the museum at 110 East Broadway in New Franklin. Refreshments will be served.
