The MFA Oil Foundation has awarded a grant in the amount of $1,000 to the Fayette Senior Center to help purchase supports and new pressure-treated framing materials for the center’s porch.
The foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations that are working to improve communities where MFA Oil has a significant concentration of members and employees. Since its establishment in 1998, the MFA Oil Foundation has awarded more than $3 million in grants.
“The MFA Oil Foundation is a great asset to MFA Oil Company and the areas we serve. Supporting organizations committed to improving communities and the quality of life goes hand in hand with our cooperative principles of giving back,” MFA Oil Foundation Chairman James Greer said.
The Senior Center has been a significant focus of community giving this year since it was revealed that it had lost about a third of its funding. The center provides meals on weekdays and hosts other activities for local seniors.
The project to refurbish the center’s porch is spearheaded by the Fayette Rotary Club, which has sought additional funds to help pay for the project.
MFA Oil Company, formed in 1929, is a farmer-owned cooperative with more than 40,000 members. It is the ninth-largest propane retailer in the United States, supplying fuels, lubricants, and propane to customers in Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Through a subsidiary, MFA Oil operates Break Time convenience stores in Missouri and Big O Tires franchises in Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas, as well as a solar panel installation company, BluSphere Energy, and APM, a wholesale fuel distributor.
