Fayette High School senior Payton Oeth has been named to the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association’s All-State first team.
He was also named both the Central State 8 Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Falcons to a 13-9 overall finish and their first-ever appearance in the district championship.
Oeth led his team at the plate with a .517 batting average, with 31 hits in 60 at-bats. He also hit seven doubles and two home runs, driving in a team-high 22 baserunners and scoring 23 runs.
A four-year starter, Oeth also led his team in the field, both behind the plate as an elite catcher, and on the mound as the Falcons’ No. 2 pitcher in the rotation. He caught 87.1 innings behind the plate, gunning down seven base stealers and picking off a runner, while calling pitches.
