Omer Perry Ball, age 85, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away at his home on Monday, August 17, 2026, surrounded by his family. Omer was born on February 1, 1941, in Chester, Illinois, to Perry Ball and Mary “Campbell” Ball.
Omer’s family moved from Chester, Illinois, to Fulton, Missouri, where he attended high school. Omer graduated from Fulton High School and joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country in the Kansas City area until he transferred branches and served in the United States Army and served in the Central Missouri area.
Omer attended Moberly Area Community College, where he earned his degree in nursing. He continued his career serving his country as an LPN at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, for 22 years. He was the proud recipient of the 1994 Secretary’s Hands & Heart Award there at the hospital for his willingness to help those around him.
Omer married Kittie Vanderpool on October 7, 2006.
Omer was an avid bowler. His highest score was 299, and he received a ring for achieving this nearly perfect score. Omer bowled three times a week in Moberly and Columbia. He won many singles and doubles tournaments. He won a few tournaments with his bowling team. He also won the Show-Me State Games Senior Bowling Division. He would take his grandkids to bowling tournaments.
In his younger years, Omer coached baseball for his nephew since he didn’t have children. He was very involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews.
Omer enjoyed fishing and working on his ranch, The Circle B Ranch, and tending to his horses.
Omer was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed going to games with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law.
Omer will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his kindness, and his willingness to help others.
Omer is survived by his wife, Kittie Ball of the home; his daughter Lisa Dickerson (Thomas) of O’Fallon, Missouri; his siblings George Ball (Beverly), Henry Ball (Darcie), David Ball (Ruby), Beverly Sanders, and Ruby Crabtree; his grandchildren, Donnell Hellensmith (Eric), Lindsay Bailey (Nathan), Brooke Holt (Canyon), Jacob Dickerson (Madisen), 12 great grandchildren, 28 nieces and nephews, and 30 great nieces and nephews, as well as many other cousins, special family members, and friends.
Omer is preceded in death by his parents Perry and Mary Ball, his siblings Sherly Miller, Barbara Smith, Sharron Sue Ridgel, and Richard Ball, and one great granddaughter Alyssa Rose Hellensmith.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Parker-Millard Funeral Service in Columbia, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Chapel Grove Cemetery in Clark, Missouri, following the service.
